Steel Building Construction in Mid-Coast Maine

About Steel Bolt Construction:

“I always like to ratchet the engineering of my buildings up a notch. I do this as a general practice with all my construction, but it is even more satisfying with a steel building. Where a typical snow load on the coast is somewhere in the high 40’s, I generally like to see a 60 pound snow load. Where the wind load is usually around 90mph, I bump it up to 100. Just because you have an pre-engineered steel building, does not mean it cannot be improved with an experienced and dedicated construction team.”

Our Story:

When my father’s small business burned to the ground in a fire, I had been working in construction for about 4 years. Thinking I would have a part in the reconstruction of his business building, I asked him what he was planning. His answer surprised me. He said that he had already ordered a pre-fabricated metal building and that it would arrive within a few weeks. Since I was only experienced with traditional wood framing, I assumed he would contract someone else to construct his new business building. However, his plans surprised me again.

In the early 2000s, my father recruited me and a good family friend to put up his 32″x100” steel building. At first, I was hesitant. I thought, “I have no idea how to put up a steel building.” Low and behold, it turns out that much of the construction know-how is the same! Make things plumb, make sure they’re square, and always keep out the weather. This is construction; this is what I know. After the building was up and I could look at what my hard work and know-how accomplished, I knew that I would pursue more steel building construction for my own line of work.

Over 2 decades later, we’ve constructed over 75 steel buildings for the good people of Mid-Coast Maine. Over the years, I’ve worked with several steel-building manufacturing companies and I do have my favorites. With the right fabricators, even the most unique order specifications can be pulled off right. As a vendor for their fabricating capabilities, Steel Bolt Construction gets boots on the ground to build my client’s dream structure. Whether to store their automobile toys or grow their own businesses, we can do it.
